Longwood, Florida-based GLE Scrap Metal Inc. announced today the creation of its newest recycling division. GLE Alloys will be based in Braddock, PA, outside Pittsburgh, focusing on stainless steel and nickel processing. Operations will commence in May of 2026.
The new facility is 10 acres on the Monongahela River with a dock for bulk barge loading, CSX rail access, and approximately 80,000 SF of warehouse space. Equipment on site will include a truck scale, material handlers, loaders, balers, skid steers and other processing equipment.
With its strategic location in the Midwest with convenient road, rail, and river access, GLE Alloys plans on expanding its reputation for service, integrity, and professionalism to the stainless processing business.
GLE Alloys will be led by James Merrills as Commercial Director, and Tom Kaikis as Operations Director. Both have extensive experience in the stainless and nickel business, having worked for several stainless processors for most of their careers. Further, the Merrills and Kaikis families have strong roots in the industry, having worked together in the past in the Pittsburgh area and in other locations.
