Our History
Great Lakes Electronics Corp., founded by Nathan Zack in 2000, began its humble operations in a garage where old computers were torn down and recycled. Since that time, the company has grown across the U.S. with multiple scrap yard, processing centers, and hundreds of employees.
As a full-service, all-in-one recycling company with operations throughout the U.S., GLE currently recycles millions and millions of pounds of scrap metal each year, and is focused on increasing recyclable tonnage in the years ahead.
GLE employs a top-notch logistics team that handles its expansive fleet of trucks as well as equipment for jobs of any size, at any facility.
The hard-working, dedicated GLE staff takes great pride in honest, upfront service. We strive to build long-term relationships while providing safe, environmentally friendly services. A founder of GLE Scrap Metal, Nathan Zack is an entrepreneur at heart. Nathan started recycling out of his garage at 16 years old. His hard work and “always get it done” attitude separates him from rest. With recycling in his blood, he is always doing the necessary diligence to lead the company forward. While focused on the growth of the business, he has daily oversight of all aspects of the organization. Nathan is quick-witted, smart, outgoing, while being there 24 hours a day seven days a week to support the GLE team. A devoted family man, you can catch Nathan in his free time enjoying a Detroit Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, or Piston game.

A founder of GLE Scrap Metal, Danny Zack believes in hard work and has a special affinity for the metal recycling industry. Danny overseas all departments of the business, and has hands on experience in each segment. He is focused on the growth of the business, continued development of our team, and is devoted to client satisfaction. Danny bleeds the GLE colors, he is calm, confident, collected, and always finding creative ways to get the job done safely and efficiently. Outside of the office Danny enjoys spending time with his family, traveling the globe, and boating with his dogs.

A graduate of Michigan State University, Jeff joined the GLE team in 2008 with a background in business banking, financial regulations, and operational auditing. After helping to successfully open the GLE Scrap Metal - Michigan division; Jeff transplanted in 2010 to GLE’s Florida operations. Jeff is our Controller for GLE Scrap Metal - Florida, and GLE Scrap Metal Trading. With a keen eye for details, Jeff is responsible for both Florida divisions’ finances, daily operations, marketing, and commodities hedging programs. An avid watch collector Jeff enjoys spending his time away from work traveling the world with his wife and daughter.

An alumnus with distinction from The University of Michigan, Brandon Finkel was named the controller of GLE Scrap Metal – Michigan and Great Lakes Electronics Corporation in 2010. With his background in corporate finance for one of the largest captive finance companies in the world Brandon was a natural fit. In addition, Brandon was also named the CFO of Zack Holdings, the parent company to the Zack family of entities. In these roles, Brandon is responsible for all enterprise wide treasury operations, corporate financing activity including: cash management and forecasting, liquidity, credit analysis, treasury planning, along with planning and execution of financings and interest rate management. Outside of the office you can find Brandon golfing, traveling, and boating with his wife and two children.

A graduate of The University of Michigan, Daniel began his career with GLE in 2010. With years of experience in both purchasing and sales, Daniel has risen to become GLE’s Director of New Business Development. Based in Casselberry Florida, Daniel leads the metals procurement teams in both Michigan and Florida. A daily focus on managing consumer relationships while helping to expand the company client base sets Dan apart. Dan is member of many local, regional, and national industry organizations; and is currently on the board of the Florida Recyclers Association. While outside of the office, Dan enjoys spending time doing outdoor activities and spending time with his wife.

Since 2006 Robert “Hollywood” Crider has brought 30 years of secondary metal processing experience to GLE Scrap Metal. As GLE’s Regional General Manager of Operations, his knowledge of materials along with a safety first thought process set him apart from the rest. The ability and willingness to teach others what to do, how to do it, and why it should be done that way, shines daily through his former pupils who have risen into successful mangers within the company. This married father of four enjoys spending his free time traveling in the sun with a Mojito in hand.

A construction management major, Bryan joined the GLE team in 2011. His background in developing, constructing, and selling homes, has brought a fresh outside perspective to the GLE team. As GLE Michigan’s lead metals procurement buyer, Bryan is also directly responsible for the Michigan divisions’ ferrous sales. When not at work he likes to spend time with his family: wife, two sons, and his beagle BJ.

A dedicated employee Lori joined the GLE family of companies in 2010. With 10+ prior years of experience at one of Michigan’s largest payroll firms it is only natural that Lori is responsible for all of GLE’s Human Resources and Payroll. A resident of Clawson Michigan; Lori enjoys reading a good book, gardening, and DIY projects.

A key utility player for GLE beginning in 2011, Sandra has evolved into running the safety program for GLE’s Florida facilitates. Sandra is responsible for team meetings on safety, and working directly with our facility managers to maintain a safe working environment. Sandra enjoys time away from work vacationing and raising her two daughters.
